We are a small studio right outside of a city. We teach Ballet, Jazz, Acrobats, Hip-hip, Pointe, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Tap, Dance Theater, Cheer Dance, Street Jazz, and toddler classes. I started my dance studio when I was 19 years old and we are now headed into our sixth season in business. When we opened our doors, we had a room about 12 foot by 12 foot and had a square pole in the middle of the room. It was a nightmare. We ended our first season with 18 students. We outgrew that studio after our first season and then one more within a few years and have recently moved into a beautiful building with four studio rooms, an actual lobby for our parents to wait for their dancers, an office to make the studio run smooth, and a locker room for our dancers. We currently have just over 100 students and we couldn't be happier. Running my studio has more than enough struggles. Every day though I am reminded why I do what I do. So often one of my little dancers colors me a picture and they get so excited when I ask them to help me hang it up in the office. When we prep for a competition and I watch the team work I have worked all season to instill in my dancers shine through, I know I am blessed. At recital when I watch the pure joy on all of the dancers, their parents, and grandparents I know it is all worth it. I wouldn't trade working all day and teaching all night or doing all the back end work in every spare second of the day for anything. Watching my dreams unfold, slowly, and inspiring bigger dreams for our dancers every day helps make it all worth it.
