Ever since I was a little girl I have turned to dance every time I had a little bump in the road; wither it was to relieve stress form school or overcome my emotions of moving so many times as a child. I always knew dance was my passion, but it wasn't until January 7th 2016 that I truly realized the impact dance had on my life. On that night I went to work like it was an ordinary day, little did I know my whole life was about to be turned upside down. It was on that night that I was robbed at gunpoint, and after it happened I didn't know what to do or how to cope with that traumatic experience. This was, without a doubt, the absolute lowest point I had reached in my lifetime. It just so happens that dance class had resumed from break the week after this happened, and as I was going through my classes it was such a distraction from the recent events that had just happened. As I was dancing I could express my emotions relating to this event without having to tell anyone what was going on. Without dance, I can't even imagine what I would have done to cope with that experience. Today, I know have my own solo known as "Healing", and expresses the exact feelings I am having about over coming this significant event in my life. I can truly say that dance has taught me to never loose sight on the end goal, because someone is always watching even if you think no one is watching. Being apart of a team during this hard time has really helped me overcome many of my fears associated with this event, and their spirits have truly helped me overcome many fears I have gained from this experience.
