Story

My Mom likes to say that I was born with a love of dance.  I don't know if that is true, but I have loved it for as long as I can remember.  Even though I have had bumps in the road I cannot imagine doing anything else.  I am 14 and have been with my current studio for quite a while.  When I was little (like 8 years old) I went to another place that was very competitive.  I never felt good while I was there.  There is nothing wrong with being competitive, but I just wasn't made that way.  I felt bad after every competition whether we did well or not.  My current studio is so different.  We do competitions, but the focus is always on growing not on winning. This past year I did really well with my solo, and in the past that would have made me uncomfortable.  But because of the great values my teachers have instilled in me I was able to appreciate the wins and feel good about my personal growth.  I know that my team is happy for me and I am happy for them when they reach their goals.  It is a great feeling to know that you have that kind of support.
