I have had a real hard time with depression and anxiety. Nights of crying and not being able to handle anyone or anything I realized by dancing, the pain slowly went away. Dance takes my mind off of everything and just lets me be there in the moment without knowing what is going to come next. Not having to know that I'm stressed or scared or nervous or sad, makes me feel relieved. Dance has been there to lift things off of me and allowed me to be free. After I found dance as a relief for my pain, life became easier. Because I know know that if I feel depressed and so upset that I can't even get out of bed, I can dance. Whether in the studio or a small space in my room, I can dance. Dance saves me in a way that no person could today.
