I've been lucky enough to have never been forced to choose between something and dance. Sure, there have been a few bad injuries here and there that have kept me out for a week or two, but nothing too serious.
I love that it's impossible to worry about anything once you're in the zone. I could be having the worst day, but once I actually start to focus on listening to my body and learning choreography, I completely forget what's upsetting me. Then after class, my problems don't seem so bad. I know this is cliche, but I love how my studio has become my home away from home, and that the people I've danced with throughout the years have become my second family. I wouldn't be the person I am today without dance, and I can't imagine my life without it.
This is my absolute favorite dance quote, and I swear by it. "The only dancer you should compare yourself to is the one you used to be."
