Story

At 15 I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune NeuroMuscular disease called Myasthenia Gravis or (MG). MG effects all voluntary muscles, arms, legs, breathing, swallowing, and facial muscles. In 2014 I was admitted to UNC hospital I was admitted for exasperation, I was headed into a Myasthenic Crisis. A Myasthenic Crisis is when breathing becomes impossible without medical assistance, when this happens it requires being put on a ventilator. While in the hospital u was given plasma exchange, put on prednisone and spent 9 days in the hospital. Me or my family had no idea if I would make it out of this predicament alive. I had a tube implanted into my chest, I was totally awake and alert. The day after I got out of the hospital I preformed In our Anual recital. August 2014 I had a thymectomy, it is like open heart surgery but is to take out a gland behind the heart. I fight my own body everyday to dance! Despite all of this! I am on the competition team and dance 3 nights a weak. Dance gives me a feeling of normalcy that I have forgotten what feels like until I walk in the studio!
